UGC NET Exam
The National Eligibility Test (NET) also known as UGC NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts of an Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The UGC NET exam is held twice a year. There are 2 cycles – June and December. Initially, the test was conducted by CBSE, but from 2018 onwards, the National Test Agency (NTA) has been conducting the NET on behalf of the UGC. For the candidates who are applying for JRF, the upper age limit is 30 years while there is no age limit for the post of Assistant Professor.

Steps to Submit UGC NET Application Form 2023
The candidates may follow the steps given below to apply for UGC NET Application Form 2023
Step 1: Click on the above-mentioned UGC NET Application Form 2023 link to get redirected to the official website https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
Step 2: A new window will appear on your screen. If you are a new user, Click on the “New Registration” button to register yourself. Otherwise, fill in your details and click on the “SIGN IN” button.
Step 3: Fill in all the required details: Application Number, Password, Security Pin and then click on login button.
Step 4: Now choose the Exam Centre and the medium of exam for UGC NET 2023 in which you want to attempt the paper.
Step 5: Enter your Aadhar card number, choose your gender, and category and finally select the status of Employment and the status of the Qualifying Exam.
Step 6: Now fill in your Educational Details, the most recent qualification you hold, your percentage etc.
Step 7: After that, you are required to provide your communication address, phone number and email ID.
Step 8: Upload your photo and signature. Both images must be in jpg/jpeg format and must have a white background.
Step 9: You will be directed to the payment page. The payment can be made for the UGC NET 2023 Exam through online or offline mode.
Step 10: Click on the “SUBMIT” button. Download the confirmation page for future reference.
Important Instruction for Photograph and Signature
The scanned images of the latest photographs and signature should be in jpg/jpeg format.

UGC NET 2023 Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualifications:
- For Assistant Professor: Candidates must have a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree from universities/institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for candidates belonging to reserved categories like SC/ST/PwD).
- For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Candidates should also have a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree with the same eligibility criteria as mentioned above. Candidates who have appeared or are still pursuing the final year of their Master’s degree can also apply for JRF. However, they must complete their Master’s degree with the required percentage before the award of the JRF.
- Age Limit:
- For JRF: The upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship is generally 30 years as of the first day of the month of the examination (relaxable by 5 years for candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and women candidates).
- For Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
- Relaxation for Reserved Categories:
- The relaxation in the upper age limit, as well as the relaxation in the qualifying marks, is provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the government regulations.
- Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Holders:
