Day of the Year
National First Responders Day
- Emergency medical services are on the job when something bad happens. Before even getting to the hospital, these workers meet people at a vital time that can mean the difference between life and death, trained to help in whatever the crisis might be.
- The history of first responders in the US dates back to the Civil War, when field workers would provide needed, on-site care to wounded soldiers. But this idea dates even further back to Europe, during the Napoleonic Wars, where lightweight wagons delivered the wounded to field hospitals.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said that his next mission is to provide women with ₹1,100 every month. He was referring to AAP’s poll promise before the 2022 Assembly poll. Mr. Mann said this while campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the November 13 Assembly bypolls, Ishank Chabbewal, in the Chabbewal constituency in Hoshiarpur district. Seeing the presence of a number of women at the Chabbewal gathering, the CM remarked that mothers and sisters come only to AAP rallies because they know that the AAP government cares for their needs. - “We have won in Haryana. Will win in Jharkhand, Maharashtra too. After that our target is Bengal,” Mr. Shah said.

Delhi batters disappoint despite getting starts
- Not for the first time this season, Delhi was guilty of an underwhelming display with the bat despite a few of its players getting starts. The result at the end of day two was that the home side trails Assam by 116 runs with four wickets remaining in the first innings in the Ranji Trophy clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
- At 214 for six in response to the visitor’s 330, Delhi faces an uphill battle to even claim first-innings honours when play resumes on Monday. Skipper Himmat Singh hit 55 while Yash Dhull and Sanat Sangwan contributed 47 each, but neither of them was able to carry on and produce the sort of three-figure score that Sumit Ghadigaonkar did for Assam.
