- The “tie-breaker” judge, Justice Atul Sharachchandra Chandurkar, delivered the verdict on Friday after a Division Bench of Justices Gautam Patel and Neela Gokhale delivered a split verdict on January 31, 2024.

Decks cleared for Atishi to take oath as the CM today
- President Droupadi Murmu on Friday appointed Atishi as the Delhi Chief Minister. A gazette notifi- cation by the Union Home Ministry stated: “The President is pleased to appoint Ms. Atishi as the Chief Minister, National Capital Territory of Delhi, with effect from the date she is sworn in.” She also accepted Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation as the CM.
- Mr. Kejriwal submitted his resignation to the Lieutenant-Governor on September 17, following which Ms. Atishi was nominated for the CM’s office after being elected as the leader of the AAP Legislature Party.
Trucks stranded as Bengal seals Jharkhand border for three days
- Hundreds of trucks are stuck on both sides of the West Bengal-Jharkhand border after the Trinamool Congress government ordered it sealed on Thursday evening over the release of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) water. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had blamed the Central government-owned entity for flooding in around 11 districts of West Bengal.
- Multiple cross-border check posts have been closed for three days in Paschim Medinipur, Purulia, and Paschim Bardhaman districts that share most of the inter-State border.
ISRO will take all precautions before manned Gaganyaan mission: Somanath
- Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S. Somanath on Friday said that the space agency will take all precautions by carrying out a sufficient number of tests before the manned Gaganyaan mission is launched.
- Speaking to reporters on the final day of the Bengaluru Space Expo, Mr. Somanath said that the ISRO does not want to have a situation like that of the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, which recently returned to Earth without the astronauts.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday targeted the Congress at a rally in Maharashtra, asking people to stay away from the party which “hates Ganpati puja”.
- Appealing to people to save the pride of Maharashtra, Mr. Modi said, “The soul of patriotism has died in Congress. The ghost of hatred has taken them over. The tukde tukde gang and urban Naxals have been running this Congress party, which has nothing to do with the party Mahatma Gandhi was once associated with.”
