While the Dark Ages valued the soul over the body, the renaissance period took a fresh start by examining the body for medical research, bringing new methods of awareness about what the body does. It wasn’t until the 1800’s that the idea of fitness became popular. Since then, the United States took fitness to a new level by bringing in 20th-century technology.

Kejriwal exits, Atishi to become Delhi CM

Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi is set to become Delhi’s third woman Chief Minister, with party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal submitting his resignation to Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) V.K. Saxena on Tuesday.
Ms. Atishi, who was elected leader of the AAP Legislature Party earlier in the day, submitted her request to the L-G to stake claim to form the government. Currently, she is a Cabinet Minister and holds several portfolios, including Revenue, Education, and Public Works Department.

In Haryana, Shah accuses Cong. of playing politics over Agnipath scheme

In his first election rally in Haryana, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday accused the Congress of playing politics over the Agnipath scheme, and said not a single Agniveer returning from the Army after four years would be without a job in the State.
His remarks came at a ‘Jan Aashirwad Sabha’ in Bhiwani’s Loharu.
Later at a rally in Faridabad, Mr. Shah said slogans were raised at the Congress’ rallies in Palwal and Hathin hailing Pakistan, and accused the party of pursuing “politics of appeasement”.

Post-1991, southern States emerged as leaders: EAC-PM

Post-liberalisation in 1991, the per capita income of the southern States surged significantly and they emerged as “leading performers”, shows an analysis released by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM). In contrast, the economic performances of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar regressed and worsened after bifurcation.
Among the western States, Maharashtra and Gujarat consistently performed well. Gujarat exhibited rapid growth from the beginning of the millennium. Among the northern States, Delhi and Haryana performed exceptionally well, though the latter’s economic might is mostly drawn from Gurugram and its adjoining areas.

Many agencies working on scheme to prevent railway sabotage: Home Minister

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that several agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Railway Police and the Home Ministry are preparing a scheme for the protection of the railway network to ensure that there is no sabotage.
He also said the Census exercise would begin soon. When asked if caste would be enumerated with the next Census, Mr. Shah said, “Everything will be in the public domain.”
He said the Waqf (Amendment) Bill is committed to the management and preservation of Waqf properties and would be passed in Parliament in the coming days.

Multi-tier security arrangements are in place in Jammu & Kashmir for the first phase of the much-awaited Assembly election in 24 constituencies in seven districts of the Kashmir and Jammu divisions on Wednesday.
When the previous election was held 10 years ago, J&K was a State, but in August 2019, the Union government downgraded it to a Union Territory and ended its special constitutional status under Article 370.
