Day of the Year

I Love to Write Day

I Love to Write Day was created in 2002 by Delaware-based author John Riddle. Riddle has been writing for the past thirty years and has written a total of 34 books so far. When asked why he decided to create a day dedicated to the love he and many other people have for writing, he said, “My goal for I Love To Write Day is to have people of all ages spend time writing.

They can write a poem, a love letter, a greeting card, an essay, a short story, start a novel, finish a novel…the possibilities are endless. (…) People need to be challenged, and writing is but one of many creative ways to express yourself.

Exports rebound, but Oct. import bill hits new record

ndia’s goods exports, which had clocked an anaemic 1% uptick in the first half of 2024-25, began the second half on a strong note with October shipments jumping at a 28-month high pace of 17.25% to touch $39.2 billion, this year’s second best-tally.

However, this was accompanied by a 3.9% rise in the country’s merchandise import bill, lifting it to a fresh record high of $66.34 billion, eclipsing this August’s $64.34 billion import figure that was the highest at the time.

The merchandise trade deficit has thus widened from a five-month low of $20.8 billion in September to $27.14 billion in October, the second highest so far this financial year and the third highest ever.

Should India continue to boycott cricket in Pakistan?

  • All the other teams, be it tennis or blind cricket, are going [to Pakistan]. I accept that for cricketers to travel is different: they are bigger international stars and the stakes are higher. So, possibly, there is security fear. But the sentiment should be the same towards all sports.
  • Last Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially communicated to the International Cricket Council (ICC) its decision to not send a team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9. How will SDS visa move hit students?

  • The Canadian government discontinued the Student Direct Stream (SDS) visa in November 2024. This decision has far-reaching implications for Indian students.

The SDS visa offered faster processing, lower application fees, and simpler documentation, making it a popular option for students.

It was often seen as a pathway to permanent residency, and its discontinuation creates uncertainty about future immigration prospects.

Indian students can still apply for the standard student visa, though it requires more time and preparation.
