At least 28 Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh operation

At least 28 Naxalites were killed by security forces in a gunfight in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Friday, according to the police.
One policeman was injured in a grenade blast during the operation.
The gunfight began around 1 p.m. in the Abujhmad area of Narayanpur district in the left-wing extremism-affected Bastar region.
At 8 p.m., the police provided the final number of bodies recovered, after which Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the forces in a post on X.
“In a fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the border area of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts, reports suggest that 28 Naxalites have been killed.

Two more juveniles apprehended in Delhi doctor murder case

wo more juveniles, who were allegedly part of a conspiracy to kill a doctor working in Nima Hospital in the Capital’s Kalindi Kunj area, were apprehended on Friday.
On Thursday, a juvenile was apprehended in connection with the case. According to the police, one of the three juveniles had a heated argument with the doctor over an inflated bill days before the crime.
“The deceased charged ₹1,200 when the main accused visited the hospital after he was injured in an accident in Faridabad,” said a senior police officer.

Respond to ‘non-disbursal’ of aid for landslide-hit Wayanad: HC to Centre

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Friday asked the Union government to respond to a statement that no amount has been released from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for providing relief to those affected by the landslides in Wayanad on July 30.
The Bench of Justice A.K. Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice Syam Kumar V.M., while referring to the statement in a report filed by the amicus curiae, observed that this aspect required to be considered by the authorities which controlled the disbursal of the NDRF and the PMNRF.

Ex-principal, police official tried to hush up R.G. Kar rape-murder: CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday alleged that Sandip Kumar Ghosh, former principal of the R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, and Abhijit Mondal, former officer-in-charge of Tala police station, tried to hush up the rape and murder of a doctor at the State-run facility in Kolkata.
The allegations were made in the remand application made by the agency before the Sealdah court seeking extension of the judicial custody of the two.
