UGC NET Result 2025 – Normalization Procedure:-
To ensure fairness in the evaluation process for the UGC NET, especially when the exam is conducted in multiple shifts with varying difficulty levels, the National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalization method. This process involves converting the candidates’ actual marks into a percentile score.
For example, if the exam takes place in two shifts, and a score of 40% corresponds to a percentile of 74 in Shift 1 and 76 in Shift 2, then the higher percentile (76) is considered for determining eligibility in the General category. This means that candidates from both shifts who score at or above the 76th percentile (i.e., between the 76th and 100th percentile) will be deemed qualified under the General category. The same method is applied for reserved categories, with eligibility percentiles calculated separately for each category.
UGC NET Qualifying Marks 2025:-
The table below shows the expected qualifying marks for each category and paper:
Categories | Paper-I (Max marks: 100) | Paper-II (Max marks: 100) |
General category | 40 Marks (40%) | 80 Marks 40 (40%) |
OBC (NCL)/PWD/ST/SC | 35 Marks (35%) | 70 Marks (35%) |
