Qualification
- For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
- For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
- For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)
- Minimum Age Limit: 20 Years
- Maximum Age Limit: 24 Years
- i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January 2002 and not later than 1st January 2006 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January 2000 and not later than 1st January 2006 only are eligible.
- For IMA – Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2002 and not later than 1st January 2007 only are eligible.
- For Indian Naval Academy – Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 2002 and not later than 1st January 2007 only are eligible.
- For Officers’ Training Academy – (SSC Course for men) unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2007 only are eligible.
- For Officers’ Training Academy – (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2007.
- Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.

CDS 2025 Selection Process
- Written Examination: Candidates must first qualify in the written examination, which comprises multiple-choice questions and tests their knowledge in subjects such as English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. The written exam is held separately for each academy.
- Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who pass the written examination are shortlisted for the interview/personality test conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). This stage evaluates candidates’ officer-like qualities, leadership skills, and suitability for a career in the defense forces. The interview/personality test includes various tasks, group discussions, and personal interviews.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must submit their original documents for verification, including educational certificates, age proof, and other relevant documents.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the interview/personality test undergo a thorough medical examination conducted by a Military Hospital to assess their medical fitness. The medical examination ensures that candidates meet military service’s physical and medical standards.
- Final Merit List: The final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in the written examination, interview/personality test, and medical examination. A merit list is prepared, and candidates are allotted seats in the respective academies based on their ranks and preferences.
