Temple attack: PM urges Canada to uphold the law
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the violence at the Hindu Sabha Temple at Brampton near Toronto and said such actions will “never weaken India’s resolve”.
- Commenting on the ongoing diplomatic downturn between the two sides, Mr. Modi slammed the recent reports of surveillance targeting Indian diplomats in Canada and described such actions as “cowardly”.
- His comments came hours after the Ministry of External Affairs, against the backdrop of anti-India protests and violence around the temple premises, said that it remains “deeply concerned” about the safety and security of Indian nationals in Canada.

Several Delhi govt. schemes to tackle toxic air yet to take off
- At least five schemes announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the past two years to mitigate air pollution are yet to be implemented, senior officials told The Hindu.
- Some of the five programmes — using drones to study sources of air pollution, making pollution under control (PUC) certificates compulsory to buy fuel, engaging machines to clean roads and reduce dust, conducting workshops on ‘urban farming’, and developing 17 “world-class” city forests — are in various stages of the tender process while others are yet to be notified, said an official.

- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday urged the Centre to explore the possibility of running trains on the Kalka-Shimla narrow-gauge railway, a UNESCO world heritage site, on green hydrogen — a clean energy source
- Mr. Sukhu said the transition would help the hill State in achieving its goal of becoming a ‘green energy State’ by 2026.

36 killed after bus plunges into gorge in Uttarakhand
- Thirty-six persons were killed after a packed bus fell into a 150-foot-deep gorge in Almora district of Uttarakhand on Monday.
- According to officials, the 42-seater private bus was ferrying around 63 passengers at the time of the accident.
- Those travelling in the bus were daily commuters, local traders, students, and people returning to work after the Deepavali holidays.
- Local people from a nearby village were the first to reach the accident site. Witnesses said the bus was badly damaged in the impact and many passengers were thrown 100-150 metres
