World Pharmacists Day was the brainchild of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique, or FIP for short), with the council of this organization voting to establish the event in the late 2000s during a conference they staged in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim of the day is to bring attention to pharmacies and the positive benefits they offer when it comes to health, and the FIP encourages all of its members to get involved to make the event a success.

Zelenskyy meets Modi in U.S., expresses gratitude for efforts towards peace
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, in the afternoon, before departing New York for New Delhi. Mr. Zelenksyy’s team had requested the meeting, according to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
- There was no discussion on India’s purchase of Russian oil, Mr. Misri said as he briefed journalists on Monday. Referring to India’s purchase of oil, Mr. Zelenksyy had told Indian journalists in Kyiv last month, that if Indians “change their attitude” towards Russia, the war would end.

Dengue, malaria cases on rise, people resort to private fumigation
- Over 300 cases of dengue were reported in the city over the past seven days, taking the total number of cases in the national capital so far this year to 1,229, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) stated in a report on Tuesday.
- A total of 651 cases of dengue have been detected in the Capital this month, while 256 cases were detected in August, states the report, suggesting a steady rise in dengue cases.
M.P. sets ₹4,892 MSP to buy soya bean, farmers want more
- The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved online registration for procurement of soya bean at the minimum support price (MSP) of ₹4,892 per quintal even as various farmer outfits and the Opposition continue to press for an MSP of ₹6,000 per quintal. The registration period is from September 25 to October 20, and the procurement will be done from October 25 to December 3.
- In a statement, the government said, “13.68 lakh metric tonnes of soya bean will be purchased from farmers at the minimum support price of ₹4,892 [as approved by the Centre] per quintal.”
